The senseless and brutal killing of George Floyd has woken the world to the overt racism within the criminal justice system. At the same time, the pandemic has highlighted the basic inequalities in our health services and socio-economic system. These two together have caused us to look at racism in its many overt and covert forms. Both Blacks and whites have heeded the call that it is time to stand up and step forward as a united front against the dark and dangerous predator of systemic racism. Churches are trying very hard to find their place in all of this and white allies are trying to find ways to use their white privilege to help support people of color and facilitate the change that is necessary for all to be seen and treated equally.
Pat Henry will present a panel of black people to share their experiences and to challenge those of us who are privileged white people to become advocates for our friends, leveraging our privilege to their advantage. Please bring your ideas and questions.
