Announcements

EARTH DAY OBSERVATIONS –  There will be two Earth Day events this week on Thursday, April 22 in SLO Deanery:

>> NOONDAY PRAYERS and BROWN BAG LUNCH  –  Bring your lunch and join us on Zoom at noon for prayers led by St. Benedict’s, Los Osos, followed by an opportunity to learn and share more about Creation Care, led by Bill Shreve of St. Timothy’s Mountain View. Zoom

>> SACRED GROUND – What we can do for healthy soils and a healthy planet Thursday, April 22, 7:00-8:30 pm  Online.  This Graceshop (called that because climate solutions from healthy soils come via the grace of creation) brings three local experts together to talk about regenerative agriculture, what we can do in our own backyards, and how legislative action can help. Register here.

More details on St. Ben’s website under “Events”. More information on Earth Day resources from the Diocesan Creation Care team may be found here.

CRISTOSAL – Kathy Veit from all Saints’ Palo Alto will present information on the ministry of Cristosal, a human rights advocacy group on Sunday, April 25 at the SLO Deanery meeting.  Cristosal was born in 2000 as a collaboration between Episcopal clergy in the United States and El Salvador and  now operates throughout the Northern Triangle of Central America—El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. —which is one of the most violent regions of the world. An unprecedented humanitarian crisis is unfolding in the region, as thousands of families are forcibly displaced by violence committed by gangs, criminal organizations, and government forces.   Cristosal supports victims of violence by providing protection when it is needed most, repairing the effects of human rights violations through strategic court cases, and working with municipalities to build safer, more democratic communities. For more information, visit cristosal.org

The meeting begins at 2pm, and Kathy will speak at 2:15 in the deanery zoom room. All are welcome.

PARISH PICNIC –  We will have a brown-bag style picnic on May at 2:00pm at the Los Osos Middle School field, weather permitting.  Bring your own chair, mask, and picnic.  We’ll still need to keep our social-distancing and maintain safety protocols, but will be able to enjoy each other’s company and be together socially.  Join us!

HOLLISTER INSTITUTE DISCUSSION Pease consider joining a conversation about spirituality based on the Irish poet, John O’Donohue’s, book Beauty: the Invisible Embrace. It’s ok to come and participate even if you haven’t read the book

In this book, John O’Donohue turns his attention to the subject of beauty―the divine beauty that calls the imagination and awakens all that is noble in the human heart―focusing on the classical, medieval and Celtic traditions, on art, music, literature, nature and language. Using his work as our jumping off point we will explore the place of Beauty and its inspiration in our own lives.

The meeting begins at 2pm, and Kathy will speak at 2:15 in the deanery zoom room. All are welcome.
